Video: Soccer Player from East High Brutally Knees a Girl from Woods Cross High in the Head

Earlier this year there was a whole big brouhaha regarding girls soccer and concussions. There was a Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics study that showed a 58 percent rise in pediatric concussion cases between 2001 and 2010. There was an NBC report noting that amateur players head the ball between 1,000 and 1,500 times a year. There was an American Journal of Sports Medicine item which pointed out that female soccer players experience nearly twice as many concussions as their male counterparts.

So, yeah – head trauma and girls soccer is serious business.

On Wednesday, a video surfaced that may explain why girls soccer players are so prone to concussions. Check it out:

The names of both the kicker and the victim have been posted to the web, but we’ll steer clear of passing them along. There is no point. For what it’s worth, according to SportsGrid, the girl who did the kicking has since apologized for her actions.

Video: Brazilian U-13 Soccer Match Between Bahia and Vitoria Turns into Massive Kick Fight

A U-13 soccer showdown between Bahia and Vitoria got a lot more interesting recently when the match randomly devolved into a bunch guys just kicking each other. The melee began when a Bahia goalkeeper delivered a weak little blow to a Vitoria guy’s back. Because it’s soccer, though, the guy who got hit naturally tumbled to the ground.

From there, chaos ensued.

Kicks. Kicks. Kicks. For a moment there it looked as though the Vitoria guy was being jumped into a gang.

When it was all said and done, Bahia won the game 2-1 and two players from Vitoria needed medical attention.
