Beyonce Will Perform at the Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show

The Super Bowl halftime performance bookers have finally found a happy medium. In the aftermath of Janet Jackson’s infamous nipple slip, the bookers did their damndest to trot out the most conservative and boring acts imaginable. Finally, after years and years of backlash, they changed this up in 2011 and had Madonna, Nicki Minaj, CeeLo Green and M.I.A. perform. They were terrible, but at least the performance featured people born after the War of 1812.

This time around the powers that be did what they should have done all along: they found someone who isn’t abrasive, but is still very modern. That person? Beyonce, of course. Via the Associated Press:

A source familiar with the Super Bowl told The Associated Press the Grammy-winning diva will take the stage at the halftime show on Feb. 3, 2013, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. The source spoke on condition of anonymity because that person wasn't authorized to publicly reveal the information.

The official announcement is expected Wednesday, the source said.

The Super Bowl halftime show always has some interesting guest performances, and it’s a virtual lock that Jay-Z will be brought out in this one. Last year 111 million people tuned in to watch the New York Giants beat the New England Patriots – there is no way Hov misses out on a chance to promote himself to that sort of audience.
